Meridian for Mac
Meridian does not require an account. Your projects, footage, audio, captions, filenames, and file paths stay on your Mac. The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand app usage and subscriptions. Meridian has no advertising and does not use analytics for personalized ads or tracking across other companies’ apps and websites.
Projects and media
Editing, playback, color processing, audio processing, and exports run on your Mac. You choose which files and folders Meridian can access. The app remembers those permissions locally so it can reopen your projects and media. Project files, imported copies, thumbnails, caches, saved versions, and export-queue records stay in your chosen folders or the app’s local storage.
If you choose a folder managed by a cloud-storage provider, that provider may synchronize its contents under your settings and its own privacy terms. Exporting a file does not automatically publish or upload it.
Optional demo download
If you choose Load Demo, Meridian downloads a sample project and its media from Google Firebase Storage. Google receives ordinary network request information, including your IP address, to deliver those files and may process operational logs. No account is required, and your own projects and media are not uploaded. The downloaded demo and each editable copy are stored locally and can be used offline.
Speech and captions
Automatic transcription uses Apple’s on-device speech technology. macOS may download a language model from Apple when needed. Meridian does not upload your audio for transcription or use a cloud transcription fallback. The app does not record from your microphone.
Preferences and local checks
Meridian saves preferences such as workspace layout and the last project locally. It checks file metadata to recognize changed media and protect project saves, available storage to prepare file operations, and elapsed time to manage playback and background jobs. These checks are not used to identify or track you.
App usage analytics
When usage analytics is enabled, Google receives an identifier for this app installation, app and device information such as version, operating system, model and language, approximate location derived from network information, app launches, sessions, workspace views, subscription-offer views, and purchase or subscription events such as product ID and price. We use this information to measure usage and improve Meridian. These events are associated with the installation identifier; we do not supply a name, email address, account ID, advertising identifier, vendor identifier, project content, or precise location.
Meridian uses the Analytics SDK without advertising-identifier support. Advertising storage, ad-user-data sharing, and ad personalization are disabled. We have not added Firebase Crashlytics or Performance Monitoring. Google processes analytics data under its Firebase privacy and security practices and privacy policy. The Analytics property is configured to retain event and user data for two months, with retention extensions on new activity turned off. Google applies changes to these controls after 24 hours; aggregated reports may remain longer.
Your choices
You control your original media and exports. You can remove them with Finder when they are no longer needed. Removing a project does not automatically remove originals or exported copies. You can disable reopening the last project in Settings. No Meridian account or server-side account data needs to be deleted.
In Meridian, open Settings → General → Privacy and turn off Share app usage analytics to stop analytics collection. Turning it off also clears analytics data stored on this Mac and resets the app installation identifier. This does not delete events already received by Google; those follow the Analytics retention settings. You can contact us using the support details below with privacy questions.
Apple services
The Mac App Store, macOS diagnostics, and Apple’s model-download services are provided by Apple and follow Apple’s privacy practices and your system settings. Opening a web link in Meridian uses your web browser.
This website
You can browse the website, search guides, and read tutorials without signing in. The site does not accept uploads or operate a support-submission database. Your reading theme is stored locally in your browser. Search runs against published guide content in your browser, and search terms can appear in the page URL.
The website is hosted on Vercel. Loading pages and assets sends ordinary web requests, including your IP address and browser details. The hosting provider may process operational logs. We have not added advertising trackers or a third-party analytics SDK.
